   Feed it clean, high-contrast art

   Tracing follows edges, so logos, lettering and line art vectorize almost perfectly while photographs become thousands of blobby paths. Enlarge and sharpen a small source before you import it.

   Pick the mode that matches the source

   B&W for logos and silhouettes, Color for illustrations and posters, Edge when you want the outline rather than the filled shape.

   Threshold decides what survives

   Otsu finds the split automatically and is right most of the time. Adaptive rescues uneven scans and photographs of paper. Manual is for when you need one specific tone kept or dropped.

4. 4

   Trade smoothness against fidelity

   Low smoothness follows every pixel of the edge: accurate, but heavy with nodes. High smoothness gives flowing curves and a far smaller file. Raise it until the shape softens, then step back once.
