Remove the background from a video, free

Cut the background out of a video clip frame by frame, free and without upload: transparent PNG frames, a matte, or a video on any color.

Drop an MP4, MOV or WebM and the tool finds the subject in every frame with the same engines as the photo remover, then smooths the result across frames so the edge does not flicker. Choose the range, the frame rate and the size, watch it play, and export.

Other video background removers upload your clip to a server, cap the length, add a watermark or ask for an account. This one runs on your own graphics card or processor, so the clip never leaves your computer and the length is only a matter of time.

Every frame, in your browser

Nothing is uploaded. The networks run on your machine, on the graphics card where there is one.

Steady edges

Two passes across time settle a flicker: a frame that disagrees with both its neighbours takes their answer, and still pixels keep their alpha.

Three ways out

Transparent PNG frames in a zip, a video on the color you choose, or a matte for your editor.

No account, no watermark

No sign-up, no credits, no stamp on the result.

How to use it

  1. Drop a clip MP4, MOV or WebM. The first frame appears with the range, frame rate and size under it.
  2. Pick the subject mode People for a person on camera, Auto for anything else, Flat for a plain backdrop or green screen. Fine detail on a graphics card follows hair.
  3. Run, then play it back The first frame shows at once and the count says how long the rest will take. Scrub or play to check the edge.
  4. Export PNG frames keep their transparency. The WebM sits on the backdrop color you chose; the matte goes into an editor as the alpha.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Every frame is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser. Nothing leaves your computer.

Can I get a transparent video?

Browsers cannot yet encode a video with transparency, so the tool gives you transparent PNG frames and a matte instead, which every editor can use. A video export sits on the color you choose.

How long can the clip be?

As long as you like. Time scales with the number of frames: a 30-second clip at 24 frames per second is 720 frames, and the tool tells you how long it expects to take as it goes.
