How to use Holographic Texture Generator

Real diffraction physics, not a gradient — build holographic foil textures that shift color as the sheet tilts, then export them seamless at up to 4096px.

A short guide to getting good results, plus answers to the questions people ask most.

How to use it

  1. 1

Start from a named pattern, then leave it

The presets are real foil pattern names for a reason — they are the sheets people recognize, and glitter, confetti and flat holo lead the list because those are the ones a sticker mockup needs. Pick the closest, then move the four recipe axes: layout, motif, grooves and pitch map are independent, so a hex layout with a star motif is as valid as either preset.

  2. 2

    Pitch is the color control

Line spacing, in nanometers, decides which wavelengths bend where. Tighter pitch spreads the spectrum wider and shifts it faster as the sheet tilts; wider pitch gives you fewer, cleaner hues. Reach for it before you reach for the tint.

  3. 3

Turn tile mode on before you commit

Seamless output quantizes the lattice, which nudges the scale — so a texture perfected without it can change slightly when you switch it on. Radial and continuous recipes cannot repeat at all; that is geometry, not a bug.

  4. 4

Lock what you like, then randomize

Every axis and lever has its own lock. Lock the layout and the pitch, hit randomize twenty times, and you are exploring one dimension at a time instead of starting over.

About this tool

Most holographic textures are a rainbow gradient with some noise on top, and they look like one the moment anything moves. This tool renders the actual physics instead: each cell of the foil is given a diffraction grating with its own orientation and line spacing, and the shader sums the light bent off it across eight wavelengths and up to three diffraction orders. That is why the colors separate the way real foil does, why two hues can sit side by side under one lamp, and why tilting the sheet sweeps them across the surface rather than sliding a gradient sideways.

The presets cover the sheets people actually reach for — fine and chunky glitter, confetti in dots, chips and stars, and flat holographic film from a soft rainbow to a pearl opal — and every one is a starting point on four independent axes you can then take anywhere: the cell layout, the stamped motif, the groove direction and the pitch map. A Stock control adds the tooth of the printed sheet the foil is laminated to, which is most of what separates a render from a photograph of a real sticker. Upload your own logo as a repeating motif, print artwork over the top as a sticker, then export a seamless tile, a 4096px PNG, a four-second light-sweep video, or a self-contained interactive embed that reacts to the cursor on your own site.

Features

Real diffraction, per pixel

A conical grating equation across eight wavelengths and three orders, rendered in linear HDR — the color comes from the physics, not from a gradient.

Seamless tiling

Tile mode quantizes the lattice so the export repeats invisibly, ready to fill a shape or a background at any size.

Your logo in the foil

Upload an SVG or PNG and it becomes a repeating motif in the sheet, or print full-color artwork over the top with the sparkle glowing through the ink.

Export as image, video or embed

PNG up to 4096px, a four-second light-sweep WebM, or a self-contained interactive HTML embed that tilts to the cursor and needs no plugin.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Holographic Texture Generator really free?

Yes. Every pattern, every export size and the interactive embed are free, with no account needed, no watermarks and no export limits.

Can I use the textures commercially?

Yes — textures you generate are yours to use, including in client work, packaging, merchandise and print.

Why does it need WebGL2?

The diffraction is computed for every pixel of every frame, which only a GPU shader can do at speed. Browsers without WebGL2 show a message rather than a broken canvas; almost every browser released since 2017 has it.

Do my uploads leave my device?

No. The whole tool runs in your browser, and an uploaded logo or artwork is processed on your own machine — it is never sent anywhere unless you choose to save the project to your account.
